Well, it looks like the 4 finalists of this season's The Sing-Off got to record their favorite performance from the show in studio and iTunes just made it available today! Sweet.
I'm actually glad that every group got to record clearly their strongest performances on the show. I would've picked the same songs for the EP so this is perfect. I especially love Street Corner Symphony's flawless and soaring version of Creep and The Backbeat's emotional take on Landslide. Goosebumps. Enjoy!

Ok. I'm not sure how to go about this Sing-Off Finale recap/review because this episode is a little different. I'll probably just maybe share some of my thoughts (?). Haha.
The Finale was a little bit of a letdown. I mean, last week was awesome and I think this week would've been better without the guest singers. Maybe that's just me though.
Now, as for the results, I have to say that Committed is talented but I really thought Street Corner Symphony had it in the bag. I don't know. Prior to the Finale, I said that I don't really care who wins the show, but I'm kind of bummed right now that Street Corner Symphony didn't. So, I guess I care after all. Haha.
I just think that Committed is good if a bit boring to watch at times - they are like a younger version of Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town. Haha - because they lack a strong lead with star power. Street Corner Symphony, on the other hand, is just special. Of course, that's with the help of their lead singer Jeremy who I think should be given a recording contract along with Joanna of The Backbeats. They are the 2 stars that I think have come from this season.
Oh well, what can we do. Haha.
Oh, one more thing! It's a bit rude for Sheryl Crowe to perform with the contestants and then still play he guitar! This is a a capella show for crying out loud! Blasphemy!!
Anyway, there were still some good moments on the show in this episode. Highlights for me were:
The Group Performance (Put A Little Love In Your Heart)
Neil Diamond with Committed and Street Corner Symphony (Ain't No Sunshine)
The Backbeats (Firework)
Street Corner Symphony (Fix You) This is BEAUTIFUL!!
Wow. One more week and this show is done - meaning, we already have a winner. How come I don't want this series to end yet? Haha. Maybe it’s just really nice to see such a high caliber of talent.
I really have to say, this show really is seriously satisfying because you just dive into the music. The judges are probably the best I've seen in any reality talent competition with precise and detailed criticisms without being harsh. And although ditsy Nicole Scherzinger brings Paula Abdul to mind, she seems more down to earth and less icky. I do hope the American Idol people are taking notes here. By focusing on the music, the show has much more legitimacy.
Now, as for the contestant, I really love me some Sweet Corner Symphony. No, they didn't crush everyone this week but I'm still pulling for them to win this season. I'm just sad that On The Rocks had to leave this early and it seemed like a total cop out to me that the judges didn't eliminate a second group. They should've sent Jerry Lawson and Boredoms home. I mean, the group as shown ZERO versatility on the show. I bet they are too intimidated to cut Jerry Lawson's crew so they'll let America decide instead. Haha.
Group Performance: With A Little Help From My Friends
As always, I will rank the groups as they sing both Superstar Medley and Judges' Choice . And yes, I will still be posting download links (mp3) of their performances. Enjoy!
.. and then, they're down to 6. Wow. This show is pretty fast. Sigh. I have to say, this show, seriously, is so much fun and it just proves that a singing contest doesn’t need to be loaded with gimmicks to be entertaining. Plus, Ben Folds is the best singing judge ever! He actually makes intelligent comments. He gives constructive criticism without being mean and he’s silly, which is nice.
Anyway, this week, the groups tackle two songs: Rock and Guilty Pleasures. I'm a bit upset that Groove For Thought got eliminated because I personally think it should've been The Backbeats or the VERY boring Jerry Lawson and Company. Both groups are slowly becoming a tad overrated, in my opinion. Still, Street Corner Symphony is my favorite. The group has been climbing a notch every week. They'd better win this thing! Haha.
Group Performance: 21 Guns
Again, for this week, I will rank the groups as they sing both Rock Songs and Guilty Pleasures. And yes, I will still be posting download links (mp3) of their performances. Enjoy!
Hopefully, I'll be able to blog this show until it's Finale two weeks from now. This, to me, is like the perfect show because it's like Glee meets American Idol. Haha.
Group Performance: Use Somebody
Anyway, I'll try to rank the groups this week just like last episode, as they sing Top Hits. Also, I'll be posting download links (mp3) of their performances. Enjoy!
Wow. I completely disregarded this reality talent competition on its first season but I'm kind of regretting that right now. I mean, this show is completely off the hook. The judges are articulate and give detailed constructive criticisms, especially Ben Folds. The contestants are also pretty impressive. I'm obviously in love with the show.
Watch this season opener with all the contestants. I'd say, this is pretty EPIC!!
Anyway, I'll try to rank the groups each episode just like American Idol. Also, I'll be posting download links (mp3) of their performances. Enjoy!
