In these days of technology focused on being the slimmest and most well specced in the industry, designer Kirk Schneider proposes a new solution. We’re talking about the Morphy phone here, a durable and pliable cellphone, that can change shape inside your pocket, using your body heat..


Kirk wants to use the existing flexible circuit board technology and flexible touchscreens, but also cover them with a durable, pliable hybrid plastic. This is a “memory material” that will adapt to your pocket and the shape of your body. Supposedly, this technology will turn into something commercial in 18 months, if Kirk is right.
Morphy will adapt to your thigh shape once in your pocket and Kirk also proposes another version of the technology with micro TFT touchscreens floating independent of one another. Will this turn into a real product some day? What do you say? (via- concept-phones)

Antoine Brieux continues his creation with an interesting accessory for this tablet-smartphone: a secondary Stick Phone with basic functionality. The device is only used to answer a call on the Tube tablet. Aside from the speaker, microphone, answer and end call keys, this stick phone doesn’t sport other features and it does strictly what a phone is supposed to do: allows the user to chat with other people, while the tablet does the rest, replacing a full fledged PC.. We all were so excited over a new leaked Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phone? since this was a concept created by Shane A. Bygrave who now details his work in the following pics. Known as Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot Yiko, the device runs Android in the typical SE customized way. The device comes with a 16 mega-pixel camera, with Exmor R technology and a powerful flash. The form factor of the handset reminds me of the Xperia Arc, especially with the curved shape of the Yiko and its low thickness.
Should we consider this an Xperia Arc with an upgraded camera? [via Esato]

Imec and Holst Centre, together with TASS software professionals have developed a mobile heart monitoring system that allows to view your electrocardiogram on an Android mobile phone. The innovation is a low-power interface that transmits signals from a wireless ECG (electrocardiogram or heart monitoring)-sensor system to an android mobile phone. With this interface, imec, Holst Centre and TASS are the first to demonstrate a complete Body Area Network (BAN) connected to a mobile phone enabling reliable long-term ambulatory monitoring of various health parameters such as cardiac performance (ECG), brain activity (EEG), muscle activity (EMG), etc. The system will be demonstrated at the Wireless Health Conference in San Diego (US, October 5-7).
