Future Computer bento by Rene Lee

Rene Lee has come up with an exciting device called Bento. It is a single modular device that integrates a tablet, notebook,smartphone, hard drive and battery. The device can be used independently or as a processing network. It not only extends the life cycle of the product but also expands the possibilities of networked use. And thus, it provides easy portability of each component. Bento is short-listed for FUJITSU design award 2011 from over 1000 designs. The basic laptop structure touts a 15" OLED screen which serves as its structural base. It has solar powered lithium-ion battery. The tablet is of 11". The Phone is fixed in shallow depression and is of 4". The drive is 1TB SSD. One of the unique features of this device is that the tablet and phone can be used independently. Both can be removed while charging and can be used wirelessly. Each screen in it can be used for different purposes and content, when connected through networked system or physically.


The tablet can display a keyboard and the screen of the notebook can do visualization. Both tablet and phone can be functional in photo editing; picture can be loaded on phone while the tablet can run photoshop, and then image can be displayed in the screen of laptop. Multiple hard devices can be used in Bento because of its modular nature. All the components are fully functional as independent devices. This feature makes it exclusive and unique.

The William – concept

The William is the next evolutionary step in modern kitchen cooking — utilizing the full surface area potential of a stove-top. When pots and pans are placed on The William they are automatically detected by the Honeycombs that then produce a uniquely heated Signature with corresponding controls on a touch screen interface. Each Signature is defined by the active Honeycombs that fill the entire bottom surface of cookware to ensure a perfectly even heat distribution.

New signatures are assigned a number and are visually represented in 2 areas of the Control Panel; the Visualizer and the Heat Controller. This allows the user to interact with, and control, each new Signature and access signature-specific information like temperature, time span, and weight. The user also has the option to set custom Auto functions. Of course, The William also has a clock, a timer, and beautifully displays date and time which are regular functions users expect from any stove-top.. (via)

Plug Shaped MP3 Player

Giha Woo from Korea designed an mp3 player that looks like a power plug. This design will help eliminate the need for power cables and allow users to plug in their music players directly into regular power sockets. This design looks so amazing and this creative idea can help other mp3 player manufacturers such as Apple can get some ideas. By the way, I hope, this gadget always need to be connected with the electricity and hence, we have to always be near the power connection. If it can have a power saving technology??

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air ipod dock

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air is a high end, sleek looking stereo speaker for iPod or iPhone. It supports Apple’s AirPlay capabilities for audio streaming. On the rear end of the device, there is Ethernet port, USB 2.0 port for connecting to computers, 3.5 mm aux stereo input jack, and composite video output for TV connectivity. Video output will come handy when displaying videos and photos from compatible iPod models but you cannot use it for streaming videos through AirPlay. There is also Wi-Fi support which means you aren’t just limited to the wired home networks.

Apart from accepting the standard analog cables there is 3.5 mm jack for input which works along with the optical digital cables too. USB port is meant to be used with connections for Macs and PCs. You can use it for firmware upgrades, as syncing dock for iPhones and iPods, and for playing music directly as USB speaker. For the Apple devices, there is 30 pin docking port which can accept all the latest iPhones and iPods but just like most iPod accessories, this system has some issues with the older iPods. (via)

You can use the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air as iPhone or iPod dock and it worked really well in my lab tests. It also charges the Apple products when you place it in the dock. If you have a case for the iPhone, you might have to take it off or else the gadget might not slip in well.

The biggest selling point on the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air is AirPlay and plenty of people will be interested in streaming music from iPhone/iPod to the speaker system and the handsets can be used as remotes for playing music. Also, I would recommend you to check if the device is running on the latest firmware after you buy it. Updates for the firmware are done through USB cord and you need to connect it directly between your Mac/PC and the Air. This works well but I would have preferred over-the-air updates for the firmware.

You will first need to get Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air on the home network for AirPlay. This can be done by connecting Zeppelin directly to Mac or PC through Ethernet. Alternatively, you can log in to the initial temporary Wi-Fi connection of the Air. I tried both the ways and it worked well enough for me. Rest of the set up too is really easy to do.

Total Recall – device future

This is a creative and an excellent device which records the person’s experiences in a form of media, sound as well as the sense of touch and smell, to be communicated to others. The icons that appear in a form of holograms on the transparent touch bio screen can be operated by fingers.
Bio particles stick out from the screen surface in the form of protrusion, transferring the recorded sense of touch and the smell from the memory is splashed from the top part..
You can contain the situations and experiences at your travelling spot in a bottle and send your memories like the letter in a bottle to many people. (via)

So much cash stashed at home that fingers get tired while counting! Who wouldn’t want to live that life! The truth is that small business and maybe some households do have that kind of money, and the big counting machines currently available are inconvenient. So the solution lies in a compact Counting Ring, a simplified money counting machine. It packs in features like LED Display & Power Switch, Sheet-Separating Veins, Battery Slot and Infrared Ray Scanning. Slip it on the thumb and you’re set. My only worry would be a bundle of soiled and crumpled notes, however overall for a majority of cash-stash, this should do.

Issey Miyake ‘O’ Watch by Tokujin Yoshioka

The latest watch from Issey Miyake appears to be carved from a block of ice. This sleek, simple and stylish watch is named after the french word “eau” for “water”, a subject that also inspired its design. Its fluid curves and translucent character embody a sense of minimalism that is lost in most modern watch designs. This watch has a pair of hands on a blank dial over a crystalline clear band. Next Generation Concept Computer of Sony

The designer Hiromi Kiriki designed the next generation concept for Sony, as a brand new concept, it broke the traditional computer form, it could be worn on the wrist as a bracelet. It can let users surf the internet rapidly with its flexible OLED touch display screen plus holographic projector and pulling keyboard. The designer imagines that it would be on sale in 2010.
