This confirms that iOS 5 will be previewed in June and not in April like past years...
how does it confirm that ??? apple has previewed things in April, but showcased the whole thing in June in the past.. and this is an announcement for the Showcase.

Is there shown any RAW cameras supported in 1.5 that weren't in the current version? I wasn't up on that since mine was supported and that's all that mattered to me, but if there are new camera's supported it would point to 10.4.8 to be released later this week too.

I'd get one just for Zelda, Pilotwings and Starfox. But not at �230! That's ridiculous for a handheld machine that's primarily aimed at kids. Especially with the current global financial situation.
The 3 - 5 hour battery life is pathetic and the 3D effect can apparently cause headaches. Nine to 12 months after release, when Nintendo inevitably release the new 3DS+, with a much increased battery life for a much more reasonable price I'll consider it. But only if I can have a play with one for a few hours first to make sure my head doesn't explode from the 3D effect.
Anyway, have fun with Pilotwings. See you summer 2012.

While I agree the U.S. makers have a large share of the domestic market for pickups etc in the long term they are up against it the Japanese,Australian and to a smaller extent South African manufacturers turn out a much better quality product.I would think the only way for the U.S. manufacturers to survive is by partnering the leading overseas producers and use their technology.
I hope in the long term, US companies partner with many other companies. Yes, it's true foreign companies are ahead, but not that far ahead, imho.
A lot of people blame some of the areas surrounding Detroit's auto industry and areas around Michigan and neighboring states with the decrease in American auto quality and hard times that hit. While this is true to an extent, a large part of the entire region's economic hardship goes back before the 1980s when there was very little GOP support for the farmers in those states.
Even when Ronald Reagan and both Bushes were largely popular almost everywhere else and could find strongholds in nearly every state, the party didn't get the votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio up to where the party expected.
Too many people blame America for making bad cars and thus directly affecting that big section of the Midwest, but by the 1990s the American cars were not really that bad but a lot of the other economies didn't recover. It was far more for the lack of support for farmers there from one of the two major parties.
It's far too much for any single link, or book to show why that section of the Midwest has been more democratic, but the auto industry and its decline is still a smaller segment of the Midwest's economy than agriculture.
By losing a lot of support from that industry in the northern Midwest pretty much cost the GOP the elections in 1976, 1992, 1996, and 2008. That being said, losing the majority of the South cost the democrats the election in 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000, and 2004. It is a wise move for the president to support those states in the Midwest which are hurting and prop up both the auto industry and agriculture industries. If he fails to do so, he could lose to a Republican in 2012. As if security concerns weren't bad enough if your phone gets stolen.., If this is used to pay automatically for services and merchandise, what's to prevent a thief from running up a huge balance by using a stolen iPhone's RFID? Here in the UK we have to enter a PIN when using a credit card, and that seems to deter thieves. However, there are some places that require only a signature for some bank cards - my ex's purse was stolen in London and within the thirty minutes it took to report this to the bank 300 GBR pounds were charged to her bank card. Using a mobile phone for payment is not new - it's just a stupid idea.
Your concerns are understood. My question is: how does this differ from having your wallet or credit card stolen? Amazing that we'll secure our computers up tightly to prevent online security breaches but we'll let the sketchy-looking waiter walk away with our credit card in the restaurant.....

Mail is not using squirrelmail !! HORRAY. They switched to roundcube. (http://roundcube.net/) Also they are using the latest version of roundcube (0.5.1) which was released 2-9-2011.

There is also built in postgres running the services, but no obvious way to manage it from the GUI.

A lot of services are missing from server admin, some have dumbed down features in the server.app (which replaces server preferences) but a lot is missing.
Web is missing from server admin, so I find no obvious way to change thing like Folder Listings, or Proxy or Aliases.
I can't find any way to make an NFS or FTP share.
Print server is missing.
QuickTime Streaming service is missing. (although I've never used that)

Cons - smaller networks wouldn't survive; most niche networks would become less focused in order to appeal to a wider demographic; diversity in program would be jeopardized.
And how is that a con? The reason cable companies say they charge so much is because they give 100s of channels. If there were only 40, they couldn't hide behind that.
And since when is the goal of business to protect the undesirable? If 10 chain restaurants open in your town and nobody eats at 2 of them, should the other 8 raise their prices and give the overage to the 2 nobody likes? No, the 2 should shut down. No sense in having a business if nobody wants the business. Cable channels are a business.

In CT we are taxed I believe 50 cents on every gallon. The problem is that as gas prices rise people buy less of it and the taxes dry up.
It stands to reason that people would drive less. So the projected mileage tax revenue wouldn't be what they say and the already in-place gasoline tax would be less useful because people are driving less. Privacy issues aside, this is a dumb idea. Politically speaking you're not going to win many hearts and minds by taxing the lower and middle classes like this.

Doesn't seem right to remove services. Perhaps they will reappear later in the beta.
At least for my use, all the services seem to be present (except Printer Server, which I use but don't really need, as all it really offers is spooling and is otherwise a PITA).
I don't really have time to install and look into this. I'll just investigate when the final release comes out, and maybe a .1 after that! I already know of some Lion issues that will keep me away for a while anyway. And as long as Snow Leopard server will work with Lion clients I can certainly wait!

I envision a market for some sort of faraday cage in an iPhone carrying case though grounding it maybe a challenge.

2) A "Faraday case" is a dumb idea. How would you receive calls?

It took a "research firm" to figure this out? I don't know why people were expecting Verizon to get it before T-mobile. All carriers will get it eventually but it makes only sense that the one also using the GSM network will get it first.

Hearing the hand-off between various centers also gave me a rough idea of where we were, and gave me an idea of our surroundings (I heard pilots and ATC commenting on what was likely smoke from a forest fire).

My Verizon iPhone had the incorrect time, when I turn off the "set time automatically" it does correct itself. Kind of frustrated, I do use the iPhone for my alarm clock, and have for the last 4 or so years, it would be nice to be able to trust it to ring when it is expected to.

The only way to do it, as far as I know, is to actually go and edit the "Adobe Illustrator Prefs" file (in Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings/en_US) with TextEdit.
Use search to find this line: "/maxRecentFiles 10". Below it you will see a list of the recent file represented in a bunch of characters.
What a mess, eh? So much for including a simple "Clear Menu" command in the application, as every true Mac app does. Windows users seem to have it worse, as they have to modify the registry for this (see (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/458899)).
The funny thing is that Photoshop actually has the "Clear recent" option, but neither Illustrator, InDesign nor Fireworks do.

Not so sure about this guy. Based on the picture, he seems to have that "deer staring at headlights" look that all M$ employees display, especially Ballmer.
First thing he's going to have to get used to is that once he comes up with an idea (and let's all hope it's an original one, considering the fact he's moving from Redmond), it won't be just barely good enough to foist on an unsuspecting public for decades.

At least they have fixed it so that it properly quotes previous emails in replies!

Ugh, outlook syncing to Exchange 2010 is still slow. Emails hit my iPhone instantly, as well as Outlook 2010. As for the Outlook it takes up to 30 seconds. Maybe they need to improve EWS???
Very slow on Office too. My 1G iPod Touch was faster.
They made Mac OS office very similar to the windows counterpart in the 2011 version. Granted its not 100% the same but the gap between office 2011 on mac and office 2011 on windows is very tiny now.
