I used Compare and Buy Travel Insurance - QuoteWright.com (http://www.quoteright.com) recently for Schengen visa purpose. I have not availed the insurance so I'll not be able to tell you how good it is...it served the visa puspose.

Recently joined IV. The trigger for me was the July visa bulletin fiasco. I am sure that it caused a spike in activity/interest on IV, so, some good will come out of it, hopefully.
However, we can't just put all the blame on USCIS/July bulletin fiasco, for all our woes. Getting our apps in at USCIS, will grant us some immediate benefits, but, we still might have to wait for a pretty long time, to get a GC. We also need to look at more permanent solutions through legislation, which would actually reduce the GC backlog.
Attended the SJ rally on the 14th, the turnout was good, but, could have been much better. IMO, the impact will be limited (a one min spot on TV is better than none, but, not enough). The pressure has to come from big company CEOs pushing Congress, IV lobbying efforts, etc.

Last year I had applied for Schengen business visa. I was able to get using Blue cross blue shield Letter saying about their international coverage.Call your insurance and ask them to fax coverage letter.
One more thing when I had applied for visa they just issued for specified days as it was mention in business invitation letter. Then I end up reapplying it to get for four months.
Has anybody recently applied for a Schengen Visa, if yes, can you please let me know what you did for the travel insurance. You didn't mention how you got paid. Cash? Check? Did you get a 1099? Did you file taxes? Does the IRS have a record of your earnings?
I received online payments via Paypal for buying/selling side of my business.
I have also received 1099's for the webdesign services I provided.
All in all, my combined income has been <$5K each year.
I have not yet filed my tax returns, but I did file sales tax with the State. My tax papers are ready just so you know, but I'm not certain whether I should file them, especially with such a low income.

Or you guys think I should go ahead and stamp a visa (too much hassel/time/money involved though)?
I don't see any benefit as I will continue to renew my H1-B, AP and EAD.. so I f I can reenter using AP then why go through so much pain to H1-B visa stamp? Please advice if I am misunderstanding or missing anything...

I did something different.
In the field "Date of last entry into US", by mistake i put the I-94 validity date. On I-94, there is the date paroled and also the I-94 valid until. By mistake i put in May 2010 instead of May 2009. I did submit the application. When i was sending the supporting documents, i put a cover letter asking them to correct the date. I have to see how they respond. Did anyone actually get this thing corrected. And does these things cause any delays in the processing of the EAD application.

I am currently with a company through which I filed my I-485. The filing was done by the company laywer. If I invoke AC21 after 180 days of filing and change to a different company, how would I ensure that USCIS removes the current lawyer as the attorney of record? This is assuming that I want to represent myself and not use a lawyer after switching to a new company.

VXG, I need your help - everytime I call TSC (I have done it twice) IO refers me to some 800 number. What did you do to get them to talk to you?
I think they are doing the right thing. We all should let them work on our cases instead of calling them. We all know how productive they already are. Calling them does not help them or us.

What I meant to say is that my H1 is expiring on Sep 30th 2009 and therefore the earliest date I can apply for extension is April 1st. That's why I asked the question whether I can wait until April 1st for COS from H1 to H4 for my wife even though my wife's employment is ending on March 13th.
Also, is it necessary to have the proof of I-539 receipt by March 13th or few weeks difference is ok? Can you please let me know your experience in this matter.

What makes you think in this Direction ?
looks like they will make us wait till 17th and accept/reject case from July 2nd...and most of the rejected cases might not be eligible to refile :mad:...this is my guess!

make sure you do the transfer to H1B to Company B before Company A revokes the I-140 to be on the safer side and get the 3 year extension. Then you could transfer the old PD on to your new GC you start with company B.

If they can show some kind of conference etc. in USA and that they are coming here to attend the same, they would get visitor's visa.

Just allowing filing of I-485 while You are retrogressed, is a boon, so u can get EAD and are allowed to change Jobs in the Same profession

I would send in a notorized affidavit from the parents stating that the right name is so and so and that the regitered name in birth certificate was in-correct. you can send in some more supporting docusmnrts like , school / collge graduation cdertificates...wonder why u have the wrong name in marrigae certifcate,,,birth certificates I understand, but why is it wrong in marriage certificate?
