I'm in California, My I-140 was approved by Texas service center.
I-485 was filed with Nebraska but transfered to texas service center.
Now my I-485 is pending with Texas service center.

Am I reading this right because this certainly is more than the country limit. Also the total # of visa's given seem to be more than the annual limit. I thought there were some 250k visas that were lost, were the limits higher during these years?

I called the TSC IO a few times and finally it got cleared. Yes my PD is current and I wish the case gets assigned to some one soon.
These IO's knows nothing and they talk all bullshit. They keep on changing the story whenever you call them. Thats what happened in my case.
In Feb '08 my NC was pending
Mid Feb' 08 NC cleared
March 1st, NC pending
March 15, NC cleard and good to go
March 26, NC pending and waiting to be assigned to officer
April4th, NC pending and still waiting to go to an officer.

I have a hard time to adjust my photo to designated spec. I shrunked to 62kb but they did not take it and if I make it lesser, it won't be 320 x 240 pixels but less. I use regular digital camera. anybody help me how to do?

to take appointment that close to the arrival date. What if your flight cancelled or delayed?
I know it will eat up at least 3 days of our vacation if we have to travel from hometown to these cities, but I feel we have to factor in while planing our vacation.
What is the best way to send the documents to the emabassy? I asked because I live in Ahmedabad and I am planning to go for stamping the very next day I arrive in India.

I applied for the renewal of my expired AP on Oct 12 which was received on Oct 14th.But neither the checks are cashes nor any reciept notice received.
Is there anybody else in the same boat,Btw, the service center is NSC.

I opted for renewing the AP online on Sept 22,2009.Got the receipt at the same time, and next day which is Sept 23 i sent the supporting documents along with the cover letter,2 photographs ,confirmation receipt ,485 receipt, DL copy and passport copy from Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. Today when I tried to check the status on postal website it says that document scanned on Sept 23 which means they haven't reached the destination, now this concerns me because previously when ever I applied AP and sent the supporting documents they normally take 2 to 3 business days to reach.
Now my question:
1) If suppose the AP supporting documents get lost in mail then can I send the documents again and if in the mean time postal service delivers the first set
In between I see soft LUD's of 9/28 on my wife AP
All responses to the above matter is highly appreciated

does anyone the fate of future GC aspirants...i mean the people who are not in the run for 485...whose Labor is not approved...does anyone until when the pd going to stay current...of course the bulletin says pd might retrogess in the month of September for indian born nationalities...?? is there any chance that the pd might retrogess in the next month itself..??

Hi,
I am a doctor from India and came to US on B1/B2 visa. I have cleared my Step1 and step2 USMLE and preparing for CS Exam. I am looking for a observership or externship oppertunity.
I applied and called a lot of places but no luck because of my visa situation. Please let me know if anyone here knows of any hospitals offering observerships for IMGs.

That is correct. You do not get to sign the 140 as it is has to be applied by the employer. You however, have to sign your approved Labor which will be attached to the 140 application.

Just to state some examples: Several of members probably took CFA level II and III exams in June 2008 and the results were out today. These things further increase cohesion among the people as they share more ground than simply being an immigrant.
Probably we should add a new forum on non-immigration matters.. and then create sub-forums like.. Education, Certifications, Socializing and so on... and then people can post under these subforums..
1) these threads should not appear on main/home page under top threads.. otherwise IV will lose focus on immigration matters
2) there should be a section on main page to "non-immigration" forum...
just my 2cents.. there can be more & better ways to approach and regulate this..
But for sure this would be a great idea... Probably a "Jokes" or "Feel Light" sub forum also...

I find it wise to pay my lawyer to find the correct information for me.... be it from USCIS website or from her professional knowledge base. Believe it or not, I trust a qualified professional more than myself when it comes to a subject outside of my expertise...:D

If I change to a new employer after 6 months (on H1b transfer):
1. Will my 485 remain in good standing
2. Can I get 3 yr extension of H1b from the new employer(as I have I-140 copy).
3. Can I file my spouses 485 when the dates become current (despite working for a new employer on H1b.)

The BECs refuse to disclose how many people work in adjudication, how many cases have been adjudicated so far, how many cases are pending data entry, why certain states have more cases processed than others in random order, etc�
The BECs refuse to implement a simple application on the internet where applicants could check their statuses online.
The BECs refuse to disclose any future timeline, keeping 350,000 people in the dark as to what to expect and how long to wait.
All I am expecting from the BECs is little bit of transparency and respect which I truly deserve. I really would like to know the happenings at BECs. I appreciate if you could answer these questions below.

Her H4 depends on my H1B validatity. Im said if i call AC21 using my EAD, then my H1B goes invalid and so her H4. Does this makes sense to you. Do you got other opinions ? If so let mw know. thanks.
EAD is not a status. It's just an authorization for employment. Since you have filed 485 you and your spouse are in adjustment and so I don't see how your using EAD to work invalidates her H4.

they seem to favor unskilled workers category and talk about only 5 thousand Gcs available.
