If you're in the UK, your best bet will probably be Crucial, as they run a UK web store. Crucial sells the proper modules with Apple-approved heatsinks.
235.19 inc. VAT for two 4GB sticks (8GB kit). Not exactly cheap, but really, it's only about 10% more than what I would pay for the same thing in the States, after I factor in tax (which Crucial charges in my state), based on the currency exchange rate.
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Mac%20Pro%20%288-core%20Xeon%205400%20Series%29%202nd%20Gen.%20Early%202008&pl=Apple&cat=RAM
OWC and Trans Intl are always cheaper than Crucial, ASSUMING you live in the US. But the shipping and customs would kill you as a UK resident and they would cost more than Crucial in the end.
As said before, FB-DIMMs are expensive and chances are, they'll probably never decrease in price, but perhaps even increase over time.

Seems a good idea because of iOS convergence.
I wouldn't label it just the 'iOS forum' though. Not many people in the street are fully cognisant of iOS. Everyone knows Macs run OSX but the iOS brand is a bit more hidden behind the ranks of iPhones, iPods, and iPads.
You could label it something like ' iOS - the software that runs your iPod, iPhone, and iPad' then the other forums could become 'iPhone hardware', iPad hardware' etc.

This is crazy DO these people really think this would work? Myself I know they are only thinking of themselves or their church or people who think like them. They can't possibly want everyone to have this law.

Proposed Ballot Initiative Could Allow North Dakotans To Refuse To Follow Law On Religious Grounds
CONTACT: (212) 549-2666; media@aclu.org
BISMARCK, N.D. The North Dakota Secretary of State received a petition today supporting a state constitutional amendment that could allow anyone including employers, landlords and medical providers to refuse to follow any law based on their religious views. Supporters of the so-called Religious Liberty Restoration Amendment claim to have gathered enough signatures to place the proposed constitutional amendment on the North Dakota ballot in the next general election.
If passed, the amendment could allow people to refuse to comply with any law if they claim a religious exemption.
The following can be attributed to Robert Doody, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of the Dakotas:
North Dakotans have a proud history of respecting their neighbors right to live their lives according to what they believe, even if they do not share those beliefs. But this proposed amendment could lead people to refuse to follow virtually any law. It could allow people to argue that they have a right to abuse their children, refuse to hire people of different religious faiths or deny emergency health care.
The following can be attributed to Daniel Mach, Director of the ACLU Program on Freedom of Religion and Belief:
While all North Dakotans should be free to practice their faith, the proposed amendment goes too far. There are better ways to protect religious freedom without legalizing discrimination and undoing many long-standing laws that protect the public and ensure that everyone is treated fairly.
Did you know the ACLU is a Zionist anti-american based organization bent on destroying religous freedom?

I posted this in the pro forums but it probably belongs here.
Under OSX i get great wireless performance. Full strength all over the house.
However in boot camp if I leave the room I go down to half bars, if I go into the bedroom (maybe 10 meters away from router), I go down do absolutely no signal and lose internet. However in the same place I have full bars on OSX.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Good ploy on their part to get a cheap emac.
Good luck with HP. Not a bad company's computer to have if you have to have a non-apple, but it still runs windows.

Your MBP does not have the SATA III connection required to get the max performance out of the M4. Your MBP has only a SATA II connection, so even though the M4 would work it will not give you peak speeds shown in benchmark tests.
Look at the test at the top of this page (http://www.anandtech.com/show/4253/the-crucial-m4-micron-c400-ssd-review/8) that shows overall system performance. Note the M4 at a SATA II connection and the Intel 320 are about the same speed.
With the same performance and better price and reliability of the Intel, I hink Intel is your best choice.

I would make sure that you do not allocate more than one virtual CPU and 2Gb RAM to see if that helps.
Usually with virtualization on PC/Mac, the bottleneck is usually the disk system. Make sure that the disk is performing well in OS X without running Parallels.

Can any of the 2011 iMac owners check if any of the components in their newly bought iMac operate underclocked?
Apple has, in the past, been known to do this to maintain a certain power consumption or thermal level.
This could explain some of the "low" scores we are seeing of late.

Hello again all,
I have started to progress in my Apple education, and I have hit the first hurdle.
I have got my hands on a Dual 1.8Ghz G5, the last owner obviously removed the HDD and the RAM and Graphics card, so I thought this should be easy enough to resolve.
New 320gb HDD, 2 partitions, partition 1 100gb partition 2 200gb, ati radeon 9800 pro mac special edition graphics card, and to start with 1gb of RAM.
I did think it would be a case of install all the bits of kit needed, start machine, load OS X and off I go.
Not the case, when I press the power button the front LED flashes, the fans come on, the hard drive sounds as if it is powering up, but I have no power or activity from the keyboard and mouse, the video card also powers up as the fans on it are running. No activity on the monitor screen.
I have done a PRAM reset by pressing the button, I have changed the battery.
All I get in simple terms is a box that power up with a flashing LED and no other activity?? I also get no BEEPS on power up!!!!!!!
What I have also done is I thought fine I used my G4 Quicksilver with a USB dock and I loaded my new OS X 10.5 Leopard onto the new hard drive, that was successful, I put it back into the G5 still no joy. Could the Logic board or the CPU's be U/S? I have also now taken the CPU's out, and I have tried using just one to see if they are U/S, it does not make a difference.
Does anyone have any advice on how to start a G5 that you have rebuilt?? I thought if I put the relevant parts together as I have done many times in the past with normal PC's, it should just be simple??

What should Apple make next?
iPhone Landline? iMirror - although there's something like that called the Cybertecture mirror...
Here's a mockup of a touchscreen lock that would be pretty sick. even if it'd be something that prioritized looks over safety..

I had a "stock" dual 533MHz G4 w/512MB RAM and it ran great - I ripped/burned backup DVDs, ripped my CDs with iTunes, made my own DVDs with iMovie/iDVD, played Diablo II and a little Call of Duty. etc. etc. it did everything except the games perfectly - Halo and Call of Duty really needed a faster machine.
Now that I've added all the stuff in my sig that same G4 hums along nicely - I can run everything I want to run.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. He ended up getting a base 15" MBP and got the optibay. He's a professional photographer and said he needed the space (both hd and screen). He loves his setup.
They did have the hi-res antiglare in stock, but not all stores do
Personally though- if you're just using aperture and final cut express a bit, and don't mind an external- I'd say wait for the 13" MBA to get updated.
They're amazing, especially if you're gonna be traveling a lot.

CapsuleRebel, while looking awesome and offering great protection, is pain in the ass to take it off the phone. Just something you should know as you said it should be easy to remove. I don't have any experience with Trim/Vulcan but a TPU case is a TPU case. It will fit / protect and will be easy to remove.

You keep posting this drivel.
This is not a new iPhone only a new color.
There is nothing any more spectacular about it.
We black iPhone users have been using it for 10 months now.
Oops, must have hit a nerve :)
