American Idol 10: Top 2

MOST. BORING. FINALE. EVER. Congratulations Season 9, you are not the worst finale ever! Haha. Shoot me!

I don't know how much of the ridiculousness I was able to handle. First, everything felt rushed. Were they in a hurry to get on to the Glee Finale? One song, no comments from the judges, commercial! What was that all about? The pacing was just AWFUL! Heck, they even addressed Lauren's throat issue in a longer time frame than the actual performances. Haha.

Which brings me to that issue. I was confused as to why they felt the need to bring the doctor out. If they wanted to mention something about her voice, then just mention something quickly and leave it at that. Obviously, this was all a ploy to get sympathy votes for Lauren. Predictable. I guess, the drama was worth about a million votes no? Well played, Nigel Lythgoe.

Also, what was going on with the judges not saying anything up until the fourth performance? Did the judges officially gave up on judging? While I somewhat enjoyed the judgelessness, they had to do something. It's what they're paid to do. Oh wait, Haley's not there anymore, so what's there to critique right? Sorry. I forgot! Haha. As for you, Randy Jackson, it's just hard to believe how mornonic you've become. Before you're just annoying and useless, but this year, you're an incredibly annoying idiot. Can't. Even. Blech!

Oh, and Taio Cruz's performance was annoyingly random. They rushed the performance and judges' comments - not that they matter anyway - just to give way for that? Seriously?

It's such a shame that a good season like this, ended up pretty lousy. Thank God, David Cook came on and showed how it was done. That is all.

DISCLAIMER: I am no expert, but this is my opinion - to each his own - and yours will be in the comments below! Haha.

BY ROUNDS
ROUND 1: Encore

Scotty McCreery
Gone
Wow. I must say, when he performed this a couple of weeks ago, this performance instantly became one of my favorite performances from Scotty - I only liked two of his performances, so that's that. Haha. But this was, I thought, WAY better than the first time he did it - which was already great. He sounded great, amazing stage presence and his energy was just infectious. Indeed, I was happy that this performance happened. 8.5/10

Lauren Alaina
Flat On The Floor
Funny how both of them picked songs from the same week to reprise! Haha. Ok. While I did enjoy the first time she performed this, she should've done Turn On The Radio instead - that's if she wants to go upbeat. I mean, this was the song that brought her to the Bottom 2 so this song choice, at least to me, didn't make sense. Plus, she was kind of struggling with the song. She kept on dropping the big notes and her voice got really strained towards the end. Oh, and judges, SIT DOWN! That didn't deserve a standing ovation! Have you EVER heard the first time she performed this? Please! 6.5/10

VERDICT: Scotty McCreery! No contest. I find it funny though how the judges called this one as Scotty's round when they obviously gave Lauren Alaina a standing ovation for her performance. Haha. Pfft.

ROUND 2: Idol's Choice

Scotty McCreery
Check Yes Or No
Hmm. To me, Scotty’s song really did him no favors. Sure, it was age appropriate, but it was just SO dull. Maybe because it's a traditional country song? I don't know. I thought he sounded very karaoke and he was, yet again, drowned out by the band. I just couldn't hear some of his notes. Overall, it was alright. Nothing special. 6.5/10

Lauren Alaina
Maybe It Was Memphis
Let me get this out first: Her dress was hideous! What was up with the puffy dresses this season? Haha. Anyway, Lauren's second performance was decent. The song didn't go anywhere, but I thought she did the best of what she was given. She still sounded hoarse - more so than normal - but this, um, better? 7/10

VERDICT: Lauren Alaina was slightly better, maybe because of the song. At this point, I don't even care! Haha.

ROUND 3: Coronation Song

Scotty McCreery
Love You This Big
I've said this once and I'll say it again, Scotty has the star potential. And while his vocals were good on Love You This Big - except for that weird key change - this song was just awful! Seriously. What does the song even mean? I love you.. what? Somehow, this would make a terrific porn movie title. Haha. See, I'm just entertaining myself while writing this! Ugh. But kidding aside, did they really want this as Scotty's first single? I just can’t imagine it much on radio and it’s not anything I’d want to listen as a cheesy coronation song. Extremely boring and very unoriginal. 6/10

Lauren Alaina
Like My Mother Does
As far as coronation songs went, this was better song than Scotty. It's contrived and schmaltzy, but I have a funny feeling that country radio will eat this one up. I just wish she'd stop cutting her notes short. Sigh. Oh, and Randy Jackson, SHUT UP! Lauren Alaina has arrived? So, who was performing earlier then? She's always "back" and now she has "arrived". Seriously dude? 7.5/10

VERDICT: Lauren Alaina. Cheese and all, she crushed Scotty with that song.

1. Lauren Alaina
Somehow, I still want Scotty to win this thing. But, Lauren has the better first single song and with that kind of staging for her last song - you know, the tears and a hug from her mom while singing - she might just win this. Will the sympathy and love-her-mom votes be enough to upset Scotty’s coronation? We'll see.

2. Scotty McCreery
He had a rough night! He started amazing and went downhill from there. I don't know. Nothing more to say.
